Zakuro's Hundred-Grand Mind-Mess of DOOOOOOM!

Amazing but true, "Journey To The REST" will soon have its 100,000th hit! It couldn't have happened without you, so in thanks (and, with luck, to provide some entertainment while I'm offline for the next two weeks, visiting family and friends back home), here's a contest!

Zero-Sum 11/2002First prize is the hotly-sought November 2002 issue of ZERO-SUM--that's right, the issue that reprinted all the G-FANTASY chapters of Saiyuki Gaiden that were never gathered in book form! This is my own spare copy, and has never even been opened--it's been kept in its store bag in my closet for nearly two years now!

Chara Box shitajikiSecond prize is another rare item: a Saiyuki RELOAD shitajiki offered briefly this summer in Chara Box machines at Animate shops in Japan! Featuring art by Minekura-sensei, these shitajiki sold out quickly; I lucked into mine at a tiny Animate in the boonies of Gunma prefecture. This is the only extra I was able to get, and it has never been removed from its sealed protective see-through plastic wrapper.

Third prize is the CD single of doa's "Shiro No Jumon," Saiyuki RELOAD GUNLOCK's current ending theme, which came out in Japan on September 15!

Winning won't be easy, though--because you'll have to survive Zakuro's various mind-trick methods of Doooooom!

Yep, like the proverbial bad penny, youkai Zakuro's back--again!--and trying new conduits for his genjutsu hallucinogenic magic. You'll find him lurking on various pages throughout "Journey To The REST"--hey, there he is below! Find as many of his methods as you can in the pages of "Journey To The REST." Each starts with "Zakuro's" and ends with "of DOOOOOM!", natch!

To enter, type the methods you've found as a numbered list in an e-mail (you can start with the one on this page: 1. Zakuro's Non-Flammable Drop-Seat Footie Pajamas of DOOOOOM!) and send to kagenami.q@gmail.com with "JTTR Contest" as the subject line. Be sure to type the entire name, starting with "Zakuro's" and ending with "of DOOOOOOM!", for each method! At the end of the list, please give your complete real name and e-mail address. [Added 9/30: Not to worry, I will not post your real name and e-mail address anywhere!] Only one list is allowed per name and e-mail address, so please be sure your list is as complete as you can make it; you won't be allowed to add to it later.

I'll award one point for each method you found. (Make sure you quote it exactly--it's half a point off for a misspelled word or changed punctuation! Hint: "DOOOOOOM" has an "O" for every letter of Zakuro's name. ;^) ) Extra Credit #1: You're welcome to include a message in your entry e-mail. If you mention something (or, better yet, some things!) you've enjoyed about "Journey To The REST," I'll add three points to your entry's score! Extra Credit #2: Mention your #1 favorite of Zakuro's methods you found, and why it's your favorite, for one point added to your score! (The results and some of the responses will be included in the contest results.)

First prize goes to the highest score, with the next two prizes to the next two runners-up. (In case of a tie, winners will be determined by writing each tied entrant's name on a little piece of paper and flinging them all from the top of a stairway to see which one flies farthest...!) Depending on the number of entries, more prizes may be added--heaven knows I have some extra Saiyuki goodies...

The contest starts September 15, and all entries must be received by October 1. The winners will be announced on "Journey To The REST" on October 14, the site's third anniversary! At that time I'll e-mail the winners to get your shipping address, and I'll also pay the postage to send your prize by air mail from Japan. It's the least I can do to show my appreciation for your making this 100,000-hit milestone possible--thanks so much again!

(Ardent arigatos too to Lux for permission to use the Zakuro images from her Saiyuki RELOAD GUNLOCK screencap gallery, Still Not There Yet!)
