ENSUI: That Go Joe guy again?
BANRI: Not even Kougaiji's coming out for this. He's got the right idea.
[Gojyo steps out with a tall wooden stool--but the applause that greets him hushes respectfully as he peers intently down at the floorboards of the evening-enveloped stage, trying to find the Very Important Mark where he's supposed to set his seat. A sudden "kyuu!" snaps his concentration, and the crowd ripples with craning heads as Gojyo hurries away to investigate. The spotlight splashes onto the forgotten stool, then wanders briefly to find the redhead at the stage's far end, facing away and leaning out to watch something around the side of the portable platform. Those up front can hear a reassuring voice, a laugh--and there's Hakkai moving just into sight, stroking Jeep! Jeep takes to the air at the crowd's gasp, and with an apologetic smile up at Gojyo, Hakkai reverses back out of sight. The music of the TV-size version of Gensomaden Saiyuki second end theme "Alone" starts, and a preoccupied Gojyo, mark blown and audience an afterthought, begins to sing Mokona's "Alone."]
GOJYO: And there you are, by yourself again
Why do you keep yourself so distant,
Just see the world, for what it is in those green eyes,
[Applause seems hesitant to intrude--but then Gojyo remembers his fans and wolfishly blows some kisses, turning the applause into an avalanche!]
ENSUI: Huh...well, I'm lost. That must be one of those songs that Means Something.
BANRI: . . . . .
ENSUI: What's that big red thing going across the stage?
BANRI: No idea...but hope it's a big rotten tomato headed for Sa Gojyo! Wish I'd thought to bring some.
ENSUI: Through the kyoumon-scope, it looks like...Dokugakuji?!
Staring out at the new moon tonight.
Just like it, so do you
Obscure yourself among the stars,
Savoring the solitude.
From all those who have come to accept you?
When will you see that those rainy days that passed
Are not the same as those tears you've shed that day?
And let those lamentations disappear with the wind.
Embrace the warmth of the gentle red fire,
And gaze kindly into his hearth.
Because, right now, I'm sure your true smile is all
you need, to find yourself at home.
Or return to JOURNEY TO THE REST
