Gunstock Day 1 Part 11
Radio Free BANRI

KOUGAIJI: It's time to bring the stage portion of Saiyuki Reload GUNSTOCK's first night to a close. I've been asked to remind everyone that the gates are closed; you can leave if you like, but we're crammed to capacity so won't be able to allow you back in.

BANRI: That's interesting. Guess we're here for good.

ENSUI: Ohhh good, glad I packed my lab coat with the flannel footies!

KOUGAIJI: But with this beautiful weather, I expect we'll all have a memorable time camping out and enjoying fan fellowship-

BANRI: Translation: "trying to seek out and stalk your favorite hottie of the Sanzo gang."

ENSUI: There's probably an underground bunker dug behind that stage. Those guys'll be cowering down there all night!

[Hazel steps out, abruptly upstaging Kougaiji.]

HAZEL: Pardon me, may I have a word? Thank you. I'm so pleased to announce the opening of my Hospitality Pavilion, at the opposite end of the grounds! We'll be open all night, providing a lovely place for those who would like to get away from the...elements.

KOUGAIJI: [trying with uneven success to keep his hackles from rising] I doubt the weather will be a problem. The night's going to be clear and warm.

HAZEL: Oh, one never knows when the surroundings may become...disagreeable.

GATO: [looming just offstage] It's an all-weather tent.

HAZEL: It's suitable for any sort of night; even a warm-!

[Beat. Beat. Surrounded by blank looks, Hazel's cheerfulness starts to cloud.]

HAZEL: -night.

KOUGAIJI: And now, to finish our first night of song, here's Genjyo Sanzo-

HAZEL: [clapping his hands merrily] SANzo-han! How splendid!

KOUGAIJI: -singing "Hollow," by darthelwig, to the tune of "ID."

[Kougaiji aims to exit through Hazel, sending the Bishop flinchingly back offstage. The lighting crew seem to have vacated the place, too; it's up to the moon to provide the soft gleam that defines the form of Sanzo.]

SANZO: Hollow...
Hollow...

Hiding my soul from you
Fearing touch and fearing pain and fearing love
I've lost it before
It's better this way
Safe and sound in here alone
I'm happy here, don't ask for more
Leave me as I am

Hollow...
Empty of things to lose
In walls that will not fall
Hollow...
I cannot give you more so
Don't ask for me to forgive you

Living is easier
Without friends and without ties and without risk
And people like you
I will not be bound to you
Don't expect me to be that
I cannot let you just walk into my heart

Hollow...
Empty with nothing to lose
In walls that will not fall
Hollow...
I cannot give you more
Don't ask for me to forgive

Hollow...

Hollow...
Empty without someone to care for
In walls that will not fall
Hollow...
I cannot give you more
Don't ask for forgiveness

[A towering wave of applause swells, then slowly disperses, fans gradually turning from the now-empty stage.]

BANRI: ...And that finishes tonight's set. Think we'd better shut down for now and let the battery rest. We'll be back when the action starts up again tomorrow!

ENSUI: What, no action tonight?

BANRI: Ohhh, odds are pretty good there'll be some in that, heh, Hostility Pavilion...! Until tomorrow, keep your ears up out there; this is Radio Free Banri, signing off for now!
