ENSUI: Oh. Okay...Guess it's just me, then. I'll try my best...[turns pages] This is the first song in GUNSTOCK. To the TV-size "Don't Look Back Again," this is "Left Alone" by Sanzo-underscore-girl [takes a deep breath]:
IN THE RAINY, DARK NIGHT, RAIN FELLS
BANRI: [running up] Are you okay?!
ENSUI: What? I was doing my dramatic reading!
BANRI: It looked like you were, I dunno, fighting off mosquitoes or having a medical emergency or something...
ENSUI: Those were my dramatic hand motions! Gotta get physical to get the impact into your voice!
BANRI: I guess... Well well, looks like the show's about ready to roll again. They've got a big video screen set up, and what looks like a high chair next to some sort of...what is that thing? We'll find out soon.
[The murmuring crowd suddenly bursts into cheers.]
BANRI: And here comes...huh!
ENSUI: It's their little white dragon!
IT FELLS INTO MY MEMORIES, DANM IT
STANDING IN THE DARK WAS,
SANZO, DEMONS, KOURYUU
WHY ARE WE STANDING ALONE COLD DARK
NIGHT, DEMONS EYES GROWER
HOT WITH ANGER, RISES HIS BLADE IN THE
AIR, WITH HIM AT MY BACK
HEARD A CRY OF FEAR FROM ME
SANZO TOLD KOURYUU
DON'T LOOK BACK, WAS YELL
DON'T LOOK BACK AGAIN
HE YELL THE SECOND TIME
THE DEMON THROST THE
SWORD THROUGH
HIS BODY RIGHT IN
FRONT OF ME, DEAD
SANZO HE'S DEAD, NNOO
THOSE EYEA WENT AWAY LEAVING ME ALL ALONE IN THE DARK.
Or return to JOURNEY TO THE REST
