Saiyuki has no shortage of TV theme songs and image songs and character songs...but to have a great concert event, we've gotta have more! So take any existing Saiyuki vocal song (the list of possibilities is below), and write new lyrics to its tune to create a new character song for any Saiyuki character. It can be about that character, or something from that character's point of view...it can even be a duet for two characters, or trio for three characters, or a quartet for four...as long as they're Saiyuki characters, it's all good!
After that, at least two runners-up will be awarded the Honorable Mention prize: the Summer 2005 WARD, coming out in Japan August 15 and featuring the return of "Saiyuki Gaiden"!
Winners will be announced the week of August 16, and a selection of entries will be featured in a special SAIYUKI RELOAD GUNSTOCK section here on Journey To The REST (remember the Very Special Saiyuki Christmas Special? ;^) ). Prizes will be mailed the following week, and I'll pay their air mail postage.
To enter, choose any existing Saiyuki vocal song--the list is below, for easy reference--and write new lyrics, in English, to its tune to create a new character song. It can be for any Saiyuki character--either about that character, or something from that character's point of view. If you'd rather do a duet, trio, or quartet (involving two, three or four characters, natch), that's fine, too!
Then type the original Saiyuki song's title, and your Saiyuki character song's new song title and lyrics, in an e-mail and send it to kagenami.q@gmail.com with "Saiyuki Reload Gunstock" as the subject line. In your e-mail, please also give your complete real name, e-mail address, and then a name or nickname I can refer to you as on Journey To The REST (not to worry, I will not post your real name and e-mail address anywhere!). Only one Saiyuki character song is allowed per name and e-mail address.
The contest starts July 27, and all entries must be received by August 10, 2005. Don't miss out!
