4/26/2008: Better late than never, I guess...added this month's birthdays, and updated the fukusei cels section.
3/15/2008: Arrghh, life threw a major curveball (detailed at JTTR)! Back now and catching up. Added this month's birthdays so far; more to come! There was no chapter of "Saiyuki RELOAD" in ZERO-SUM last month (although there was a gorgeous color spread and a one-shot Minekura manga that had appeared earlier in a KOZERO-SUM issue) or "Saiyuki Gaiden" this month (WARD 02 comes out Monday, so will see if anything at all related is in the issue); Minekura-sensei's schedule has been too heavy, especially given last night's launch of the animated "Bus Gamer." "Saiyuki RELOAD" is slated to return this month, though.

11/16/2007: Eeek! Never intended to be away for a month! The company I work for just underwent a whopper of a move, from its rental warehouse home of nearly 10 years to a brand-new, huge building in the next prefecture north. The last couple weeks are a blur of packing and unpacking and tearing down and setting up and inventorying, and finally setting up my new desk in our new office where instead of looking at concrete blocks, we now get to look out a huge window at an expanse of fields and foothills, and even, if the weather is clear enough, see distant Mt. Fuji! ...Anyway! Finished up just in time for WARD to come out, with some big news: next year it'll come out every other month, instead of quarterly (that means a potential 50 percent more Saiyuki Gaiden chapters a year, yay!)! Did a new news item, added an image of the new WARD's front cover, added this month's woefully late birthdays list, and updated the release lists.
10/14/2007: Here we go, back for a sixth year on the road...thanks so much for joining us on the ride! So far today, have updated the release lists and added the November '07 Zero-Sum cover image.
10/08/2007: We've survived the move, and can now get online at home! Had a big scare on October 1 when we nearly lost this site (didn't get the domain renewal notice); huge thanks to Gbeanjuice for letting us know it had disappeared, in the nick of time to save it! We'll reopen on October 14, JTTR's sixth (!!) anniversary--see you then!

7/22/2007: Added the ISBN number for the "Saiyuki Gaiden" Vol. 3 manga tankoubon to the list of upcoming releases. Also added a notice at the top of the front page--will be offline for a while, packing and cleaning and just plain going nuts in getting ready to move on August 4! Will be back as quick as I can!

4/30/2007: Whew--with luck I'll be back for a while now! Was a contestant on a Japanese competition show, and between days of cramming and the actual competition, there went all of April! Now it's over and done, and the episode will air here in Japan in May. In the meantime, have a ton of catching up to do here! The first episode of the "Burial" OVA has come out (extremely faithful to the manga!) with part 2 to follow in September and part 3 in December, accompanied by a slew of fun goods released at Animate (got a pile of 'em yesterday, including extras for "Saiyuki RELOAD GUNSTOCK" prizes...but man oh man, somehow I forgot to get the set of Hakkai's earcuffs! Arrggh!! Can't get back to Tokyo until Thursday...hope they don't sell out...!). Some exciting releases are coming up, too -- the next chapter of the "Saiyuki Gaiden" manga comes out May 16 in WARD, volume 8 of the "Saiyuki RELOAD" manga will be released on May 25, the second Vocal Album CD is slated to come out June 22, the DVD of Axle's "Saiyuki" stage play will be released June 24, and more--check out the Upcoming Releases list on the front page! And Saiyuki Reload GUNSTOCK is back underway--this week is Japan's Golden Week series of national holidays, so I've got some time off, and will be driving hard to finish it up!

12/23/2006: At work yesterday, those of us heading to the U.S. for Christmas were encouraged to watch a clip on Youtube of the "new holiday craze in the U.S." so that we'd be up to speed when we got there. The clip was of Justin Timberlake's "Dick In A Box" video done for Saturday Nite Live. It was funny, but it's actually been done before--and a special holiday message about that, from Sa(nta) Gojyo, is now on the front page! A special holiday rerun is right below it. Am heading home for the holidays now; everyone have a cool Yule, and see you in January!

10/15/2006: How about that--Journey To The REST just celebrated its FIFTH ANNIVERSARY! Thanks so much for all your support--JTTR wouldn't be here if not for you!--and I'll do my damndest to make this sixth year better than the lame fifth one ! Had hoped to have the 24-Hour Live Banri'cast this weekend, but there ultimately wasn't enough time to prepare, what with the killer workdays just keeping on comin' (worked 17 hours on Friday, oog...)--but it's definitely a go; watch for it after Day Two is done! In the meantime, updated the release list and added a new news item to the front page today. And on we go!

6/07/2006: Whoa, a month between updates? It was one wild month, though, and I got to go back home for a wonderful vacation (lots of sleeping, visiting friends, playing with the fur-children, guzzling A&W Root Beer, and gobbling two big jars of applesauce and almost three jars of Vlasik Zesty Bread & Butter Slices!)! Got back in time for Axle's three Saiyuuki stage shows in Osaka last weekend; brief update on Journey To The Rest Area about them. Added a new news item (Saiyuki RELOAD Vol. 7 comes out July 25!) and this month's birthdays to the front page...eek, gotta get a new Trivia Fact up there too! Working now on GUNSTOCK and a report on the Axle shows.
5/07/2006: Super Comic City was on Wednesday and Thursday, with a sharp new crop of Saiyuki doujinshi! Unfortunately, I got the Cold From Hell along the way (sure feels like the flu; hoping hard it's not), and have spent most of the weekend sacked out. Got up today to head to the grocery store--and discovered that my bike was stolen! It had to have happened sometime between Friday night and this afternoon. Not good... This week's new Trivia Fact is up on the front page. Finally found my name dictionary so was able to ID the animators on five Requiem douga; added them to the Douga Party section. Have laid out the pages for the next dozen GUNSTOCK songs, so those will be rolling soon!

4/25/2006: *sigh* This is really one of those lifetimes...New news item today, along with the Mind-Control Method of the Month (thanks so much to Skittles-Wrangler Avalonjones!), and added a Homura fukusei cel and a section of Gensomaden Saiyuki: Requiem douga (listings only so far) to Douga Party. Popular vote for Favorite Mind-Control Method of the Month is underway now at Journey To The Rest Area, with the results and Zakuro's Ultimate Gang Of Five to be announced on Friday! In the meantime, more Gunstock will be up soon.

2/26/2006: This has been the month from hell. Days of 10-12 hours are the norm for me at work now; we're booming hugely from new advertising, but man, too much more success is gonna kill me... To try to lighten the after-work load, my partner and I have sadly decided to close down our doujinshi search service. Radio Free BANRI has also had its plug pulled for now, which breaks my heart--but all-nighters were needed for the last three broadcasts, and that just can't go on with my work situation the way it is. Banri and Ensui will return on the Saiyuki RELOAD GUNSTOCK broadcast here March 6-19! In the meantime, today I added Zakuro's new Mind-Control Method of the Month (congratulations [?] to SychoGrl!) and Gang Of Five, updated the release list, and added 20 various Reload and Gunlock douga listings (UraSai!!) to Douga Party. Thanks so much for your patience in this difficult time.

1/22/2006: Today I added Zakuro's new Mind-Control Method of the Month (congratulations [?] to Violet Stalker!) and Gang Of Five. Also rewrote the page on Studio Backgammon and added Minekura-sensei's first two offset Saiyuki doujinshi there (thanks so much to Avalon Jones for the spectacular Christmas present of "Saiyuuki Kaiteiban FESTA"!). Meanwhile, the regular doujinshi section has just passed 900; added five books there today (updated circles are noted in the Doujinshi section)! 1/18/2006: Been a rugged year so far...almost solid 13-hour days at work. We're finally almost caught back up, though, so am hoping hard to be able to do something other than work and sleep soon! There's some exciting release news in a new news item today, and an overdue new trivia fact. Also updated the release lists, and uploaded many many many new scans for near-future fun!
1/03/2006: Akemashite omedetou! Back online after a wonderful holiday, and hope everyone else had a great time too! Tonight there's a new birthday list and new Trivia Fact (the 1992 date of origin is almost as startling as the contents of that 24-page "pilot" story...more details in Trivia Facts to come!), and I updated the release lists and added two fukusei cels (Gojyo and Kouryuu) to the Fukusei Cel Gallery and 21 various Reload and Gunlock douga listings to Douga Party. Still to come are a chunk o' GUNSTOCK, rewrite of the front page text (thanks to that darn Trivia Fact), and lotsa goodies!
