Tis The Season

...for Zakuro Carols!

ATTENTION ENTRANTS: The winners will now be announced on DECEMBER 27, not the 25th! Please forgive the delay; we're going like hell at work and I'm going to need the weekend to put together the results in a way they deserve...! Also, about half of you didn't list your choice for a Grand Prize! Please double-check what you sent, and if you forgot, please e-mail me with your choice by December 23! Any Grand Prize winners who didn't let me know their choice will get a "Saiyuki RELOAD GUNLOCK Official Guide" (not that there's anything wrong with that...!).

Santa Claus.

Zakuro.

Is it just coincidence that they have the same amount of syllables, and a fondness for jingle bells...?

2005 CalendarsGood things and bad things tend to come in threes, so after the Zakuro's Hundred-Grand Mind-Mess of DOOOOOOM! and Zakuro's Mind-Control Method Of The Month contests earlier this year, here's the third good thing about bad thing Zakuro: the 'Tis The Season For Zakuro Carols contest!

(Plus, this Christmas will be the first one I'll have ever spent alone. Am going to need a whopper of a distraction to get through it...I'm counting on you! ;^) )

Write a Zakuro carol to the tune of any Christmas or winter holiday song--your Zakuro carol's lyrics can be Christmas- or holiday-related if you like, but they don't have to be--and submit the new lyrics for the chance to win a prize!

Saiyuki Reload Gunlock Official GuideThe top three Zakuro Carols will each be awarded the GRAND PRIZE: Your choice of the Saiyuki RELOAD 2005 Calendar (far left, with art by Kazuya Minekura), or the Saiyuki RELOAD GUNLOCK 2005 Calendar (near left, with art by Noriko Ootake), or the new 80-page book "Saiyuki RELOAD GUNLOCK Official Guide" (shown at right)!

All items are brand-new; my own calendars are pictured here, but each prize calendar will be new and still rolled up in its packaging, and the prize book will come with its paper obi.

Gensomaden Saiyuki Xmas Card After that, at least two runners-up will be awarded the Honorable Mention prize: a Gensomaden Saiyuki Pop-Up Xmas Card (shown at left)!

Winners will be announced on December 27 [date changed on 12/23], and a selection of entries will be featured on a Journey To The REST Zakuro Carols page along with the entire picture of Zakuro in his Santa Suit Of DOOOOOOM (courtesy of artist Avalon Jones)! Prizes will be mailed the second week of January, and I'll pay their air mail postage.

To enter, choose any Christmas or winter holiday song, and write a Zakuro carol to its tune. (Again, your Zakuro carol's lyrics can be Christmas- or holiday-related if you like, but they don't have to be. And the more your Zakuro carol is about Zakuro, of course, the better!)

Then type the original Christmas or winter holiday song's title, your Zakuro carol's new song title and lyrics, and your choice for a Grand Prize (Reload calendar, Gunlock calendar, or Gunlock book) in an e-mail and send it to kagenami.q@gmail.com with "Zakuro Carol" as the subject line. In your e-mail, please also give your complete real name, e-mail address, and then a name or nickname I can refer to you as on Journey To The REST (not to worry, I will not post your real name and e-mail address anywhere!). Only one Zakuro Carol is allowed per name and e-mail address.

The contest starts December 5, and all entries must be received by December 19, 2004.

Happy Holidays!
