Zakuro The Great!

Zakuro Art Contest...of DOOOOOOM!

Grand Prize is the hardcover Kazuya Minekura art collection book "Salty-Dog III," coming out in Japan February 25!

With Zakuro so busy here in his ongoing JTTR appearances, our supply of screencaps and manga art of him has finally been exhausted! More art featuring the youkai of our dreams is needed, and fast--and with "Salty-Dog III," Minekura-sensei's new Saiyuki RELOAD-filled art book, happening to come out later this month, the timing is right for a new contest: the Zakuro Art Contest...of DOOOOOOM!

One Grand Prize will be awarded: "Salty-Dog III"! The Grand Prize winner will be announced on March 10 (was originally planned to be March 6--very sorry about the delay!). In addition, 12 other pieces of art will each receive an Honorable Mention prize of Saiyuki loot straight from Japan (I'll pay all prizes' air mail postage to you, too)! The winning 13 pieces of art will each appear with one of Zakuro's Mind-Control Methods of the Month, so the Honorable Mentions will be announced gradually throughout the year, on the first Sunday of each month (there will be more than one appearing in December ;^) ). As the art may need to be cropped when appearing with the Mind-Control Method, I'll also make a Zakuro Art Contest Gallery for all art that's entered in the contest, so it can also appear in uncropped form.

The contest is open to art of any kind--as long as you created it yourself, and it's something you can scan or photograph to send as a .jpg--depicting Zakuro! You can enter up to two different pieces of Zakuro art (limit of two pieces per name and e-mail address). To enter, please send a 72-dpi .jpg of the art--any size is fine up to 1000 x 1000 pixels (no bigger than that, please)--as an attachment in an e-mail to kagenami.q@gmail.com with "Zakuro Art Contest" as the subject line. (If you're entering two different art pieces, please send a separate e-mail for each one.)

In your e-mail, please give your complete real name, e-mail address, and then a name or nickname I can refer to you as on Journey To The REST (not to worry, I will not post your real name and e-mail address anywhere!). Please also let me know who your two favorite Saiyuki characters are, to help in selecting a prize if you're an Honorable Mention winner. You're welcome to also write some comments about your piece of art, to appear along with your piece in the Zakuro Art Contest Gallery. (Please note that if the art depicts something I feel is a little too risky to appear on JTTR--such as sex acts or visible sexual organs--I'll use the image in censored form if possible or, if it's just too extreme to make much sense when censored, will regretfully not be able to have the art appear.) The contest will be judged by Kagenami Q and Avalon Jones (who created that spaztacular Zakuro portrait at the top of the page! ;^) ).

The contest starts February 6, and all entries must be received by February 28, 2005!

That's more than a dozen chances to win! Don't miss out--submmmiiiiiit...!
